Don’t measure yourself against others.  Some students will be smarter than you and other students will need your help.  You were not born to be perfect, but to be just you.  There are somethings that you cannot change.  Other things can be changed later.  The secret is to be WHO YOU ARE and that involves being cheerful, kind and generous with things you own. (Don’t lend expensive things)

Have Happy Thoughts


When possible have happy thoughts.  Believe in yourself.  Yes, there are things that you cannot do, but there are more things that you can do.  Don’t dwell on people who don’t like you.  Make friends with people who respect and want you to succeed.  Do the same for them.

Don’t Let Others Change You

If you don’t feel comfortable about what others say about you, then just find new friends.  True friends accept you as you are – but don’t forget, we can always become a better person.  Don’t hide.  Gain the courage to answer questions in class.  Have an opinion and make sure it is backed up with facts.

Making Mistakes


Thomas Edison told people that he failed a thousand times before he invented the light bulb.  Remember that pencils have erasers because people make mistakes.

Remember this is YOUR LIFE so be happy.  There is a difference between self-acceptance and self-improvement.  Both need to go together.


Self-acceptance is liking who you are – with your gifts and failures.

Self-improvement is wanting to become a better person.  Sometimes, it takes time and patience.  Some times it takes hours, days or months to improve a skill such as a sport.  Self-improvement can be learning three new words each day.  Self-improvement is reading and doing your best at school.  Self-improvement is seeing someone, maybe your mom or dad, and knowing that you can help them.   You have the ability to do all these things.  Just trust yourself.   You are your own best friend.
